What We Do
Transform provides a unique Battering Intervention and Prevention Program (BIPP) that conducts online discussions of assigned reading from the workbook, STOP ABUSE AND TRAN SFORM YOUR LIFE: BIPP CURRICULUM. Participants prepare in advance and meet on-line with approximately ten to fifteen fellow abusers for one and one-half hours each week for twenty-four weeks with the help of a trained facilitator They are encouraged to share openly, work on their objectives in the group setting, and learn from one another.
Transform serves men who are subject to the laws of Texas and “self-refer” of their own initiative or are referred by community agencies such as CPS, courts, probation, and parole.
Who We Serve
How We Are Different
The Transform BIPP complies with the requirements of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and generally covers the topics addressed by other BIPP agencies. However, inclusion of the following concepts makes the Transform BIPP unique:
Faith
Transform is faith based but not overtly religious. The curriculum uses the Bible to provide spiritual guidance and moral lessons, but preaching, bible study, or proselytizing are prohibited. All faiths, and those of no faith, are welcome.
Restorative Justice
Transform is a restorative justice program that focuses on the harm abuse does to others, and aims to require offenders to be accountable for the consequences of their actions and responsible for repairing the harm they have done.
Neurodiversity
Cognitive issues such as ADHD, autism, brain trauma, exposure to abuse during childhood, and other factors affecting brain function can be a contributing cause of abuse. Transform acknowledges such concerns and addresses them where feasible.
Exclusively online
All Transform BIPP classes are presented online over ZOOM in order to ease accessibility. All have been designed specifically for this purpose, with particular emphasis on relevant reading, written homework, computer input, and appropriate group size.
How We Connect
Those interested in participating in a BIPP may register online at www.transformprograms.com, over the phone at 214-529-5644. Once registration is completed, clients meet one-to-one with a BIPP facilitator to express their areas of need; and develop a plan to help them focus on their goals for the program.
